Communication between school, parents and teachers is vital to our success. Parents are encouraged to communicate with teachers, staff and the principal as needed. All teachers and staff have voicemail and email in addition to being available for one-on-one meetings. See the Staff Directory for contact information.
Back to School Night
Parents are invited to attend informative back-to-school-night presentations by classroom teachers each year in the fall. Parents will learn about the grade level curriculum, special events and activities, classroom volunteer opportunities, and much more. We highly encourage at least one parent from each household to attend this important event connected to your child's education.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent teacher conferences are held twice a year to inform parents of student progress, review assessment data, communicate learning goals, and address questions and/or concerns. Parents are asked to sign up for a time slot on HelpatSchool before conferences begin. Conferences are a crucial time to connect with your child's teacher; please plan to attend!
Parents receive communications from school in the form of emails from individual teachers, weekly emailed newsletters from each classroom teacher, school messenger notifications, and weekly editions of the Husky Hype school newsletter. The Husky Hype is emailed to families every Friday and provides reminders and information for the upcoming week. Parents can also check the Announcements page on the school website for important Hype announcements. In addition, Friday Folders containing student work and other pertinent information are sent home weekly with each student.
The Heatherwood Parent Teacher Organization is an active and vital part of the success of Heatherwood Elementary. Look out for information from the PTO in the Husky Hype.
In an effort to honor our Green Star School rating, Heatherwood tries to limit the amount of paper flyers coming home in Friday Folders. You will find links to websites and documents in emails and in the Husky Hype more often than an actual flyer coming home.
Help at school
Help at School is an opt-in service for parents that is used to recruit and manage parent volunteers, host a secure online parent/student directory, and provide quick and easy scheduling of parent/teacher conferences and assessment days.
