Fifth grade at Heatherwood Elementary is a place where readers, writers and mathematicians become curious, independent learners. With a consistent emphasis on social and emotional skills, teachers work to develop fluent and independent readers and writers through a variety of whole class, small group and 1:1 lessons. Teachers also promote important social and oral language skills across all curriculums. Through Project Based Learning units, teachers incorporate Social Studies and Science along with reading, writing, speaking and listening platforms. As Mathematicians, students begin to hone their math skills through critical thinking and solving real world situations. In addition to fifth grade academics, students are also exposed to art, music, library, and physical education throughout the week. Learn more about the fifth grade curriculum and resources below.
