    • Morning session: 7:50 am - 10:50 am

Lunch/Recess

Students have 20 minutes in the cafeteria to eat lunch. Lunch is only available for Pre-Kindergarten students enrolled in the CMS Preschool Age Childcare program.  Recess is BEFORE lunch for ALL K-5 students and is 20 minutes long.  All students receive a 15 minute morning or afternoon recess as well.

Arrival At School

School begins promptly at 7:50 am. Children may begin arriving at school 7:30 am.  Arrival prior to 7:30 am is discouraged except in unusual circumstances, in which case special arrangements for supervision must be made with the principal or teacher prior to the child’s arrival. Students can enter the school starting at 7:40 a.m. The front door and back door (for bussed students) are opened at this time.  During severe weather school days, children will be admitted to the cafeteria or the Hollow upon arrival and will be supervised there until the 7:50 am bell rings. There is no adult supervision of students before 7:40 am or after 3:00 pm.

Tardy Policy

Students arriving after 7:50 are considered tardy.  Please help your student arrive at school on time, as late students miss instruction and disrupt the learning environment.

Attendance Procedures

Regular attendance is an essential part of a student’s education.  Students are expected to be in attendance every school day as required by Colorado state law and district policy.

If your student is absent, please notify the school office by 7:50 am.  This can be done by leaving a message on the 24-hour attendance line (720-561-6903) or by filling out the online absence for in the IC Parent Portal

Please view the attendance section of the Student & Parent Handbook for more details and information including the definition of excused and unexcused absences.
