Third grade huskies started their gardening season by harvesting turnips and planting radish seeds. There was lots of laughing, learning and getting hands dirty in our beautiful school garden! They also munched on the turnips they harvested, and tasted green beans and nasturtium flowers.
Thank you PTO, parent volunteers and Garden to Table!

Virtual fall conferences will be February 21 and 23 (Tuesday and Thursday) from 4:00-7:00 pm. In Person conferences will be February 15 from 3:00-7:00 pm here at the school. Asking questions to your child's teacher during parent-teacher conferences and following a report card is one of the best ways to partner with them, deepen your understanding of how to best support your child, and make the conversation meaningful for you.
See the BVSD website here for some ideas of questions to ask your child's teacher.
Huskies enjoyed an outdoor all-school assembly on Friday to learn about our theme for the year: "Road to Adventure," meet all staff, and to sing the Heatherwood school song led by 5th grade teacher Anna Lyttle. Paws Up!
There are a number of ways to volunteer so please check the opportunities at Helpatschool.com. Help the Heatherwood PTO plan, coordinate and support our upcoming PTO activities.
If you are interested in volunteering, we ask that you complete the appropriate Raptor application in English or Spanish which includes a $25 fee. If this presents a hardship for you, please contact marlys.lietz@bvsd.org.
In addition to the Raptor application, please complete this volunteer agreement and return it to the front office. Thank you for your support!

Paws Up for our very own Ramiz Sirovina, head custodian, who was given a "Ripple of Positivity" Award at the district leadership meeting on Tuesday. Ramiz was nominated by Principal Genna Jaramillo for going above and beyond every day! Among other things, Ramiz prepares and cleans three lunch spaces each day along with interacting with students in a positive way. He works hard to make spaces in the school special. Congrats!
